Grand Prairie gathers to feed those in need

Grand Prairie residents looking for an opportunity to make a difference in their community are in luck, as an event focused on food and donations is coming to town.

Feed the City Grand Prairie: Making Meals for People In Need is getting ready to kick off, and area residents who want to help out are invited to lend their time and energy. The event is being sponsored by TangoCharities’ Feed, with participants going to a local grocery store to buy ingredients to make sandwiches. Attendees will want to aim for enough supplies to make 25 to 30 sandwiches.

Each person planning to make sandwiches will need to bring their own supplies. Ingredients to bring include sliced deli meat, sliced white or wheat bread, pre-packaged cheese, yellow mustard, a large bag of chips, and Ziploc sandwich Bags. Event organizers can use printing services to produce menu lists and share ingredients needed to make such events a success.

Participants are encouraged to arrive between 8:30 AM and 9:00 AM. All ages are welcome, but volunteers under 18 years of age will require supervision. Bleach-safe clothes are recommended.

Rios Brewing Company in Grand Prairie will host the volunteer event, which is scheduled for Saturday, November 15 at 8:30 AM. Registration is free, and donations of food and water will be appreciated.
