Grand Prairie will organize several cultural events throughout February to celebrate Black culture.
The Black Experience is a collection of events Grand Prairie holds to celebrate Black History Month. The programs are presented by the Grand Prairie Black History Commission and will include events such as the Unity in Motion 5K and Ebony-Opoly Game Day. Organizations that put together citywide programs such as this can use printing services to create custom Posters, Banners, and Flyers that share event schedules with the community.
The Grand Prairie Events & Convention Center will hold a health expo on February 21 and a high-energy musical showcase on February 22. The city will also host the Grand Prairie Black Film Festival at Uptown Theater on February 28. There is no cost to attend the three events, though guests are allowed to register for the programs in advance. The Uptown Theater will also organize a community forum on February 20.
Many activities will be offered throughout the month. Those interested in cooking can participate in A Tasteful Affair Culinary Experience, a live cooking demonstration at The Epic IKEA Test Kitchen that will be led by Paul Ritter. The demo will cost $58.99 per person. The Ruthe Jackson Center will hold several free economics-related workshops and a Black business fair. Both of these events will take place on February 7.
