North Texas’s largest community Mid-Autumn Festival will be coming in a few days. The festival attracts thousands of visitors as it promotes cultures and preserves traditions. The event will be free.
Rockwall climbing, and carnival games will be some of the things the younger set can enjoy. A souvenir photo booth will be available for families and friends to get some pictures of themselves in traditional garb that can be taken to local Print shops for poster printing.
Children from the ages of 10 to 15 can enter the Lantern Decoration Contest. They will be building their creations at the festival on Friday, September 21 from 7:00 to 7:30 pm. Tools and materials will be donated by Fun Creative and the winner will receive $50. Although there will be no fee to enter, registration is required.
Adults can get their creative juices flowing by making lanterns with a Texas theme, although the deadline to submit these is this Saturday, September 15. The winner will receive $200.
The Lantern Parade will be on Saturday evening and this is when kids under the age of 15 will get free presents.
The traditional lion dance will be performed a couple of times each evening along with other multicultural performances. The event will have live music and a magic show each evening.
The 2018 ATS Mid-Autumn Festival will be September 21 through 23 from 6:00 pm until 11:00 pm in Asia Times Square, 2625 W. Pioneer Parkway, Grand Prairie.
