Grand Prairie goes a-haunting

Grand Prairie will celebrate the Halloween season with plenty to do.

The 32nd Lake Joe Pool Pumpkin Run will offer three runs – a 10K, a 5K, and a one mile. Fastest times receive cash prizes and there will be awards given to the largest team and the largest local school turnout. At events such as this, schools usually get some banner printing done beforehand to have a visible way to support their teams.

The Forest of Fear, presented by Parks and Rec, will be a drive-through of Halloween displays. Guests may drive their own vehicles through the campground or take one of the hayrides. The Camp Store will remain open for concessions.

Little Grand Prairie ghosts and goblins will want to attend the Street ‘n Treat. There they can enjoy face painting, crafts, games, and trick-or-treating through the farmers’ market. This will be a B.Y.O.B (bring your own bucket) event.

The 32nd Annual Lake Joe Pool Pumpkin Run will be Saturday, October 13 from 8:00 am until 10:00 pm at Lynn Creek Park, 5610 Lake Ridge Parkway.

Forest of Fear will be at Loyd Park, 3401 Ragland Road on Saturday, October 20 and Saturday, October 27 from 7:00 to 10:00 pm.

Lastly, Street ‘n Treat will be on Halloween night, Wednesday, October 31 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Grand Prairie Farmers Market, 120 West Main Street.
