Galveston always has something going on, and two parades are on the agenda for mid-June.
The Postoffice District will host its Second Annual Flamingo Fest Golf Cart Parade, along with the Juneteenth Parade and Picnic.
In honor of National Pink Flamingo Day, brightly decorated golf carts will be lining up near Postoffice Street and 24th Street on Saturday, June 12th at 11:00 am for the Flamingo Fest Golf Cart parade. The parade will start at noon. The hour-long spectacle will be making a loop between 24th and 20th Streets, going down Postoffice Street two times and Church Street once. The procession will end between 20th and 21st Streets for cart judging.
Event day registration, priced at $25, will begin at 10:00 am and scooters and bicycles are also invited to be part of the festivities. Event shirts featuring this year’s graphic design will be available with the online $45 DEAL package. The Historic Downtown partnership will receive all of the proceeds.
On the following Saturday, June 19th, the Juneteenth Annual Parade will line up at 11:00 am and step off at 26th and Ball Streets at 1:00 pm. It will then go west to 41st Street and end at Wright Cuney Park at 40th and Ball Streets, where everyone is invited to share a picnic. The event is scheduled for 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm, with no cost for either the parade or the picnic.
