The Galveston Marathon will be run again this February, with athletes at all levels invited to race along a scenic seaside route.
Runners can choose to tackle the traditional marathon length, a half-marathon, or a five kilometer race. There will also be wheelchair and handcycle races hosted throughout the weekend, with the goal of making the course accessible to all. The path will go along the Galveston Seawall and through the Beach Town and East Beach neighbourhoods, providing a view of the Gulf.
The Marathon also acts as a qualifier for the Boston Marathon, with top finishers receiving passage to one of the country’s most famous runs. All participants will receive a commemorate technical shirt and finisher medal. Races and other athletic events often use Print shops and trophy crafters to help create unique keepsakes for participation.
The run will conclude at a post-race party with food and drinks. The top finishers for each distance will receive awards, with divisions based on age and gender. Those who cannot make the date can participate in a virtual race, tackling the distance at a time and place of their choosing. Virtual participants will also receive a shirt and medal by mail.
The 2026 edition of the Galveston Marathon will take place on the morning of Sunday, February 1, beginning and ending at Stewart Beach. Registration and packet pickup are required in advance.
