Local arts institutions will be coming together this March to showcase Galveston-area creators as part of the monthly ArtWalk event.
This event takes the form of a self-guided tour through local galleries, studios, and outdoor exhibits. The work featured will reflect a variety of media including painting, photography, sculpture and mixed media. Walkers can also meet and talk with the artists to gain insight into their creativity, or even purchase work for their own homes.
The Galveston Arts Center will serve as ArtWalk’s hub, featuring exhibitions from regional and national-level artists. The From the HeART Gallery will focus on works by individuals with disabilities. Other mainstays of the event include Affaire d’Art, Rene Wiley Gallery, and Water’s Edge Studio. The March edition will also feature unique attractions like Peanut Butter Warehouse Boutiques and the Texas Surf Museum.
This March will mark the return of the ArtWalk event after a hiatus in February in observance of Mardi Gras. Visitors are encouraged to dress stylishly but with comfortable shoes, and to visit local restaurants for a full night. Art walks like this have become common in many cities as a way to attract people to local galleries as well as downtown areas in general, often using colourful flyer printing and social media.
The March 2026 ArtWalk event will take place on March 14 in downtown Galveston.
