Galveston residents will have an opportunity to celebrate a city icon next month, with the city organizing a birthday party for the oldest tall ship in Texas.
The Elissa is set to celebrate her seafaring birthday, with 147 years of history sailing the high seas. The ship will return to the historic Galveston Historic Seaport for the birthday bash. Attendees will be treated to a craft beer, courtesy of local brewery Saint Arnold Brewing, food, and a custom birthday cake.
Live music, led by Buxton from the Houston area, will also be a staple of the celebrations. One lucky attendee will be able to sail on the Elissa in 2025. The event is being organized by the Galveston Historical Foundation, formed in 1871, and focuses on sharing the best aspects of the coastal city. Brochure printing effectively allows historical societies to share information about locations, events, and ships like the Elissa.
Winners will be able to purchase Gift Certificates at local stores, such as Home Depot, Hamilton Marine, and Jamestown Distributers. Donations are also welcome to help the historical foundation to preserve, maintain, and sail the Elissa.
The celebrations will be held at the Galveston Historic Seaport on Saturday, October 26th, running from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Tickets can be reserved online, with general admission costing $65 per attendee.
