The 12th Annual Galveston Island Wild Texas Shrimp Festival is coming in a couple of weeks.
This two-day event will feature the Ron Hoover Boat Show, live music, vendors, Lil-shrimps Parade, a 5K Fun Run, and the Shrimp Gumbo Cook-Off.
The fun will begin with the Friday Night V.I.P. Sponsor Kick-Off Party from 7:30 pm until 10:00 pm. The evening will include live music, open bar, and a fried shrimp dinner.
The 5K Shrimp Scamper Fun Run will start the next day at 9:00 am at the Beerfoot Brewery Seawall. Race-only tickets are $46 and increase to $50 on race day. If the Gumbo Stoll is included, tickets are $56 until race day when they go up to $70. Swag includes T-Shirts sporting this year’s graphic design and participation medals.
Over 100 cooking teams will start brewing their shrimp gumbo concoctions at 9:00 am at 23rd and Strand. Vendors will open for business at 10:00 am and the Gumbo Stroll will run from noon until 4:00 pm.
Also starting at noon will be live music, the Rum Punch Contest, and the Stand Merchant Walk About. Lil’ Shrimps Parade will begin at 3:00 pm. The award ceremony for best shrimp patty, open shrimp, and amateur shrimp gumbo will be at 6:00 pm.
This year’s Galveston Island Wild Texas Shrimp Festival is slated for September 24 and 25 at Saengerfest Park, 2302 Strand Street.
