The annual Galveston Santa Hustle is going online this holiday season.
Runners can choose their locations (like local and state parks, neighborhoods, or living room treadmills), distances (26.2 miles, 13.1 miles, 6.2 miles or 3.1 miles), and day. The run can be done anytime in December. Times can be uploaded on the event website.
Swag for 2020 will include either a unisex cut or women’s performance full-zip hoodie with this year’s event Logo Design, Santa hat and buff, and cookies and candy.
They will also have finisher medals with gift emblems that open and close. These medals are customized colored according to distance. The marathon medal ribbons are red, the 10K ones are gold, and the 5K and half marathons are green. Race packets and swag will be shipped free to the registrant’s address.
Families that run in the Santa Hustle usually like to take pictures of themselves in all their running finery and take the photo to nearby Print shops for duplicates. They can then insert the photos into their yearly family newsletters.
Registration fees are $45 for the Virtual 5K and the Virtual 10K. The Virtual Half Marathon will cost $50 and the Virtual Marathon will be $55. Registration will either close December 18 or when slots are filled.
Those who signed up for the in-person run can either donate their fees to charity, change to virtual, or defer their registrations to 2021 or 2022. This year’s charity is Toys for Tots.
