A wooden sailing ship is visiting Galveston next month, and history lovers are invited to set sail for a memorable experience.
The Iron Barque Elissa is making a stop in Galveston in a few weeks, providing an opportunity to explore the high seas of Texas’s Gulf Coast for an afternoon. The ship is among the oldest continuous sailing ships in the world, with the first voyage occurring in 1877. There are limited spots on offer aboard the vessel for the outdoor journey.
Attendees will be aboard as sail training students, and it’s an opportunity for interested parties to learn about the history of masted sailing ships and the skills necessary to operate them. Guests will be able to enjoy lectures and hands-on learning experiences during their time aboard the Elissa. It is suitable for attendees aged ten and over.
