This year’s 112th Mardi Gras! Galveston will be holding Jolly Jester Jaunt 5K in mid-February.
The course will be four times around the Entertainment District. Crazy outfits are encouraged – the wilder the better.
General early-bird $55 registrations include participation medals, festival T-Shirts sporting this year’s graphic design, a view of seven parades, general admission to both days of Mardi Gras! Galveston, free drinks at packet-pickup and postrace, and Mardi Gras-themed items.
The Jester $100 registration fee will have all these perks plus admission to a King Court Mardi Gras! Galveston Balcony Party from 12:00 pm to 1:00 am in the small hours of Saturday, February 11.
Packet pickup will be Friday, February 10 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at a balcony party. This will be a great viewing spot for the three parades (George P. Mitchell Mardi Gras Award Honoree, Funky Uptown Umbrella Brigade, and Mardi Gras! Galveston Parade) starting at 7:00 pm.
Check-in and late registration will begin at 9:30 am February 11 at Mechanic Street and 23rd. Stretch and warm up will be at 10:45 am, and runners will begin lining up at 10:55 am at 24th and Mechanic Street. The 5k will begin at 11:00 am.
Three parades – Mystic Krewe of Aquarius, Zaniest Golf Cart, and Krewe de iHeart and Art Car – will follow. The Alternative Rock Headliner Concert will begin at 5:30 pm and that will be followed at 6:00 pm with the Krewe of Gambrinus Parade.
