Galveston boasts of holding Texas’s largest Mardi Gras celebration, and 2025 will be no different, with numerous krewes and event organizers having already announced their plans for a full celebration.
The main attraction will be the traditional Mardi Gras parade, and there will be a series of processions running across the two week period leading up to March 4. The parades will kick off with the George p. Mitchell Mardi Gras Award Honoree Parade, which will follow an award presentation honouring individual groups who have helped preserve the festival’s spirit. The final celebration will be the Mystic Krewe of Aquarius’s traditional parade on “Fat Tuesday” itself, featuring marching band, dance teams, and other Krewes. In the meantime there will also be large and small parades by colorful groups like the Z Krewe Z, Jumpin’ Jays Bumpin’ Bus, and Knights of Momus.
In addition to the parades, there will also be live music performances and other events to celebrate the season of excess. The full line-up includes headliners Bret Michaels, the Cameron Sacky Band, and Kevin Fowler, as well as dozens of local singers, bands and DJs. Balconies will be available to rent to take in the festivities from above. Banner printing is often used during parades to help identify performers.
Galveston’s 2025 Mardi Gras celebration will take place from February 21 to March 4 throughout The Strand District and other areas of the city.
