Galveston’s annual 5k and Half Marathon Santa Hustle is coming to town in a few days. Thousands of ‘Santas’ will be running through town for charity.
The swag Bags for the Santa Hustle will have the traditional Santa beard, hat and shirt along with a new addition of candy cane socks. Runners will also receive finisher medals.
Kids will have their own Rudolph 1 Mile Run and a 100-Yard Santa Sprint. Kids’ swag bags will also contain the hats and beards, but will also have racing bibs and finisher ribbons.
The adult races will be timed. Timing clocks will be at the start and finish line and located at each mile marker. The Half Marathon and 5K will start and finish at Moody Gardens with Christmas music, cookies, candy, and water stations along the route.
Awards will go to the three top female and male finishers in 14 age groups, to the best individual costume and best group costumes.
Walkers and strollers are welcome but need to start the race behind the runners. Spectators are encouraged to bring Banners to support their favorite runners.
This year’s local charity will be the Galveston County Food Bank.
All races will be December 13 at Moody Gardens, 1 Hope Blvd, Galveston. The Kids’ Santa Sprint will start at 6:45 am, the Rudolph one-mile will begin at 6:30 am, the half marathon at 7:00 am, and the 5K at 7:15 am.
