Runners will be lacing up for the Toughest 10K Galveston coming in mid-October.
The start will be at the Galveston County Daily News offices and the course will take runners northbound up and over the Galveston Causeway. Runners will exit at Tiki Island and loop back over the bridge. Most of the course will be typical flat southeast Texas and the bridge, which is 72 feet high, will have a 3% percent grade.
The race can be run as a lone event or it can be part of the three runs in the Running Alliance Sport the Texas Bridge Series. The Texas Bridge Series has three components beginning with the Toughest 10K Kemah planned for September 20. This date is still in flux until the event planners can verify the status of the construction of the Kemah/Seabrook Bridge.
The final leg of the series will be the La Porte By the Bay Half Marathon taking place on November 15.
Runners participating in the Toughest 10K Galveston, as well as the other two races, will have the option to run in real time or participate in a virtual event. Virtual runners will receive the same live-event swag including T-Shirts sporting the event’s graphic design, finisher medals, and personalized bibs. Those finishing all three races will also receive “Texas Bridge Series” finisher items.
Toughest 10K Galveston will begin at 7:30 am Saturday, October 17th.
