This is the 50th anniversary of the local Shriners pediatric burn care hospital, and everyone is invited to attend an upcoming celebration.
A Ceremonial will start things off with the Imperial Potentate introducing doctors who will discuss the hospital’s mission. A black-tie affair called the Legacy of Love Gala will provide guests with dinner, a silent auction, and survivor stories along with congratulatory presentations.
The next day will feature a Sunday brunch followed by the Celebratory Parade. The parade route will have floats, dignitaries, bands, and other entries marching through Galveston’s Strand District. That evening’s entertainment will be the Galveston Island Cook Out where everyone can enjoy barbeque and live entertainment. This will be mainly a mix-and-mingle for the public to meet the people who provide the help and those who have received treatment. Some attendees may want to have some business card printing done so they will be able to network with others at the event.
The last day will be the Hospital Homecoming Day. This activity will be held in the hospital, and special presentations will be given by researchers, doctors, and patients discussing their involvement with the hospital. Tours will be available.
Things are set to get underway tomorrow, April 23, and run through Monday, April 25. Those interested will want to check the website for activity times.
