Runners in Galveston are gearing up for the upcoming Galveston Sand Crab 5/10K/ Kid’s Beach Mile runs.
They will have until the middle of August to get into shape. The Galveston Island Humane Society will get some of the proceeds from the races.
All runs will take place on sand and at night. The course will be lit with LED lights and runners will be required to wear headlamps or carry flashlights. All participants will receive custom finisher medals and races, including the Kids’ Mile, will be chip-timed. A post-race party will have music and refreshments, and food will be available for purchase.
The Kids’ Mile will be limited to children 12 years old and younger. Adults and course marshals will be running with them for safety reasons. Parents may accompany their kids without paying a fee. Awards will go to the overall top three girls and boys. All Kids’ Mile runners will receive cotton shirts sporting the event’s Logo Design, food at the post-race party, and water.
Awards for the adult races will also go to the first overall male and female and to the top three finishers in each of the seven age divisions in both the 5K and the 10K races.
Galveston Sand Crab 5K/10K/Kids’ Mile will kick off at Apfel Park, 1923 Boddeker Road on August 11. The Kid’s Mile out and back will begin at 8:00 pm, and the 5K and 10 Ks will start at 8:30 pm.Get a Free Quote for Logo Design
