Galveston certainly knows how to celebrate Halloween on Halloween night.
Early in the evening the gates of Galveston’s oldest residence, the 1838 Menard House, will be open to the public. The Galveston Historical Foundation will be creating spooky experiences and telling local haunted stories appropriate for both adults and youth. Kids who dare to come will be given treats.
Later that night there will be a Zombie Apocalypse Hike will take brave hikers on a short imaginary apocalypse journey along a park trail. Along the way guides will be talking about basic skills such as finding water, food, space and shelter in case of a “real” attack. Hikers will test their luck during the hour-long program which will include prizes and games.
Another outdoor Halloween event will be the final Dash Beardsley’s Original Ghost Tour of the Strand. This will be a walking tour through downtown Galveston, where tourists can stop at various locations and learn about Galveston’s haunted past. Galveston is, as we all know, a paranormal activity hot spot and one of the world’s most haunted cities.
Parents will certainly be taking pictures for family Calendars at each event.
The 1838 Menard House Trick-or-Treating will be from 5 to 7 pm at 1604 33rd Street.
Zombie Apocalypse Hike will start at 6:00 pm at Galveston Island State Park, 14901 FM3005.
The Original Ghosts Tour of the Strand will take place at 123 Rosenberg from 7:30 until 9:30 pm.
