July 4th preparations are in progress for Galveston’s 180’s City of Galveston Independence Day Celebrations.
The City of Galveston, Marine Corp League and many community volunteers are putting in effort and time to bring the Galveston Marine Corp League Fourth of July Parade. As has been the tradition, the parade will have decorated military vehicles, floats, and performers. There will also be skating, dance and drill teams, decorated golf carts and trucks, horse units, political and elected officials, and walking units. Many entries in parades such as this like to get some banner printing done early to have a way of introducing themselves to the crowd. Candy, Frisbees, and beads will be flying through the air.
The parade will start on Seawall Boulevard at 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 4. The route will be from 59th Street to 25th Street.
A 20-minute fireworks display will begin at 9:15 pm. The fireworks will be shot over the Gulf of Mexico near Seawall Boulevard and 37th Street.
If the event gets cancelled due to inclement weather, the rain date will be Friday, July 5.
Also on July 4, the From the Heart Gallery, 2111 Postoffice Street will hold its second of three free summer Open Acoustic Jams starting at 7:00 pm. Attendees are invited to bring their instruments and a vegan dish and immerse themselves in rhythm and fun. Water and wine will be available.
