The Galveston Christmas season would not be the same without the Christmas Boat Parade and the Christmas Parade on land, and this year both have been scheduled on the same day.
Sponsored by the Galveston Municipal Police Association, the land parade will begin at 59th and Seawall and go east to 27th Street. The parade will feature floats, drill and dance teams, antique cars, horses, bands, and city vehicles. Entry will be granted with the donation of unwrapped toys that will go to the Blue Santa program.
The Christmas Parade on land will step off at 6:00 pm and end at 8:00 pm Saturday, December 11th.
At the same time and on the same evening, over 60 illuminated sailboats and power boats decorated in lavish Christmas splendor will cross Clear Lake as over 100,000 spectators watch from Kemah Boardwalk, and boats anchored on the lake.
The boat parade route runs from the Nassau Bay Lagoon and South Shore Harbour Marina to Galveston Bay.
Before heading over to the Seawall for the land parade and Clear Lake for the boat parade, revelers can stroll along the coastal Kemah Boardwalk or through Historical Downtown Galveston or Moody Gardens. All of these venues will be adorned with millions of lights and Christmas decorations.
