Galveston Island will once again be presenting its annual 4th of July celebration with a parade and fireworks. The evening will be free and everyone is invited.
The Galveston Independence Day parade will kick off the festivities, starting at 41st Street on Seawall Boulevard, as part of this 177-year-old tradition. The procession will have performers, floats, and decorated military vehicles. Floats and marching units may want have Banners that introduce them to the crowd, meaning they will want to get the banner printing done as soon as possible to ensure that items will be ready by parade time. The parade will end on 12th Street.
The fireworks display will begin shortly after the parade. A 20-minute show will shoot the fireworks out over the Gulf of Mexico. The show itself will be located near Seawall Boulevard and 37th Street. Everyone will want to bring blankets and chairs and get there early enough to get good locations.
The celebration will be, of course, on July 4 and will take place on Seawall Boulevard, Galveston. The parade will begin at 7:45 pm, and the fireworks will get started at 9:15 pm.
Residents should note that Seawall Boulevard will be closed to traffic between 45th Street and 12th Street, as of 5:00 pm on the day. Traffic will also be closed starting at 3:00pm between Avenue S and Avenue U on 41st Street.
