The 13th Annual West Bay Slam Tournament & Fundraiser, underwritten by CastAway Rods, has been scheduled for mid-July. Proceeds will go to cerebral palsy research.
Teams of up to four anglers will be allowed per boat. Contestants may also fish while wading, kayaking, or on the bank. Live, dead, or artificial bait may be used. Heavy strings of five fish (trout, two slot reds, and/or flounder) will be accepted for weigh-in.
For $20, anglers can be entered in the Side Pot. The Heaviest Slot Redfish winner will receive 60% of a cash pay-out for first place, with 30% for second place and 10% for third place.
Launch will begin at 5:30 am and can be done anywhere. Lines go in the water by 6:00 am. Weigh-in will begin at 2:30 pm and end at 4:00 pm.
The event will also feature a kids’ division. Trophies will go to first through third place winners. Kids who win trophies like these often take pictures of themselves, their catch, and prizes to local Print shops for duplicates to send to relatives.
A live auction will have items such as fishing trips, rods, wildlife prints, and fishing gear up for bidding.
The event will be at West End Marina & Restaurants at 21706 Burnet Drive on July 10 and will take place from noon until 6:00 pm. Registration is $80 per angler and can be completed via the event website.
