October in Galveston will be rife with events that will get runners, golfers, and bikers out and active.
Galveston Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Golf Extravaganza over a five-day period in mid-October. Golfers will schedule their tee times over the four days and those who cannot make it on those days can register for Friday morning. This also allows for any rainouts. Prizes will be awarded Friday, October 16 in a virtual ceremony.
Galveston Chamber Golf Extravaganza will be October 12th to 16 at Moody Gardens Golf Course, 1700 Sydnor Lane.
On October 17, local runners will be racing in the Toughest 10K Galveston. This course will be an out-and-back beginning at the County Daily News Office, over the Galveston Causeway, on to Tiki Island and back. There is also a virtual option.
The Daily News Office is located at 8522 Teichman Road and the race starts at 7:30 am.
On October 24 and 25, Galveston Bay Foundation will be presenting its 14th Annual Bike Around the Bay. This will be a 170-mile two-day event taking riders around Galveston Bay. Riders will begin and end their rides at Chambers County’s Fort Anahuac Park. This will be a rolling start and riders may begin their races between 7:00 am and 9:00 am. Proceeds go to protecting the bay.
