Galveston will be hosting its 179th Independence Day Parade and Fireworks commemorating the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
First on the evening’s agenda will be the Galveston Marine Corp League Fourth of July Parade. Floats and marching units are busily getting banner printing done to introduce them to the crowds. Along with floats, the parade will have performers entertaining along the route and decorated military vehicles. All entries will be decorated with red, white, and blue patriotic themes. Units will be stepping off at 59th and Ave. T ½ and marching along Seawall Boulevard to 25th Street.
Float members and other parade entries will be tossing frisbees, beads, and candy to spectators.
Following the parade, around 9:15 pm, a 20-minute firework display will burst over the Gulf of Mexico. The fireworks will be shot from Seawall Boulevard near 37th Street.
For something to do during the afternoon, Moody Gardens will be hosting the Curt Miller Magic and Comedy Show. This will be the 10th year for magician and illusionist Curt Miller and his dance, magic, and musical family-friendly performance.
Galveston’s 4th of July celebration will begin at 7:30 pm on July 4. The rain date will be July 5.
The Curt Miller Magic and Comedy Show will be at Moody Gardens Hotel, 7 Hope Boulevard, from July 2 through 8 with two performances daily – one at 1:00 pm and the other at 7:30 pm.
