The 36th annual Texas Crab Festival will be coming to the gulf coast in the next few days.
Over 8,000 visitors are expected to enjoy over 60 vendors selling crab and crab-related food, and hand-made items gifts and products. Live music will include Ezra Charles Band, Wayne Toups, Lee Pelly, and Andy and the Dreamsicles.
The festival will feature a Texas two-step dance contest, wiener dog races, a 5k run and 1k walk, and the Crab Gumbo Cook-off.
Medals will go to the top three winners in each of five categories of the 2021 Crab Legs Contest. A tiara and sash awaits the Crab Legs Champion 2021.
Winners in contests such as this often have pictures taken of themselves and their medals. These usually go to local Print shops for duplicates to send to family and friends.
Washer and Cornhole tournaments will be held on Saturday and Sunday, and a scavenger hunt has been scheduled for Saturday.
A photography contest will be open for children in grades 5 – 8 and 9 – 12, and a poster contest will be open for kids in kindergarten through 4th grade.
All proceeds will go to the Texas Crab Festival Charities, a charity that funds youth camps, scholarships, local volunteer fire departments, community schools, and outreach initiatives.
This year’s Texas Crab Festival will take place this weekend – Friday through Sunday, May 7 through 9, at Festival Park, 1605 Highway 87, Crystal Beach.
