This year will mark Galveston’s 106 Mardi Gras, with over 300,000 revelers expected to attend the 22 parades, 20 balcony parties, 30+ concerts, and 5 masked balls.
This is Texas’ biggest and the nation’s third largest Mardi Gras celebration. Over three million beads are expected to be thrown throughout the event.
Galveston’s historic downtown will offer the most classic revelry. Other places around town will be holding electronic dance parties, parades, and family-friendly events. One nonstop dance party will be on the Saengerfest Stage, while another will be on the Electric Mardi Gras Stage. Balcony parties will be on the Strand and will include music, entrance into the Entertainment District, beverages, and a VIP view of the festivities.
The Mardi Gras Galveston Official 5 K,10 K and a Sugar Ray Runs will kick things off. The Annual Zaniest Golf Cart Parade, Krewe Gambrinus, the Mystic Krewe of Aquarius, the Children’s Parade, and the Knights of Momus Grand Night Parade are only a few of the elaborate parades that will grace the Entertainment District. Anybody can be a participant in the parades. The event will provide the beads, float, and driver.
To remember the vibrant event, many participants and spectators will be taking pictures to make into Calendars and personalized Stationery.
Mardi Gras Galveston style is slated for February 17 through 28.
