The Galveston Municipal Police Association will sponsor this year’s Christmas Parade.
Floats, golf carts, bands, antique cars and trucks and political candidates will be parading through historic Downtown Galveston. There will also be walking groups, dance/drill teams, horses, and city vehicles.
The parade will step off on 25th Street and go to the post office. It will then turn east and go to 19th Street where it will turn north and proceed on to Stand. It will finally turn west and go to 25th Street where it will disband. The parade will take place Saturday, December 14 at 6:00 pm.
The holiday festivities will continue the next day at the Moody Gardens Parking Lot at 1 Hope Blvd as the Jimmy Johns Santa Hustle Galveston 5k and Half Marathon runs from 7:00 am until 10:00 am.
Adult swag will include Santa beards and hats, finisher’s medals with a festive event Logo Design, and performance hoodies. For an additional $19.95, runners can buy a Mrs. Claus package, which will include arm warmers, red tutus, candy cane socks and tattoos, or full Santa Suits with jackets, pants, belts and hats. Santa shirts only will cost $10.
Kids’ swag will be Santa beards, hats, racing bibs and finisher ribbons.
The Hustle will benefit the Galveston County Food Bank, and there will also be a drop-off spot for anyone wishing to bring an unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots.
