Moody Gardens, at 1 Hope Boulevard, will be opening its 2019 Holiday Season in mid-November.
One festive area will be Ice Land, where sculpture artists have created glistening tableaus out of two million pounds of ice. The finished project will depict different ways cultures around the world from Russia to Egypt celebrate the holidays. The giant ice slide on top of the Eiffel Tower will show a panorama of Rio, Holland, and Australia. The log cabin ice bar will offer festive drinks beside a blazing ice fireplace.
Over one million lights will be on display at the Festival of Lights. The lights and lighted scenes will be situated along mile-long trail meandering through the Moody Gardens property. Views of Galveston Bay can be enjoyed along the way. This part of the venue will also have an outdoor skating rink, live entertainment, and concession areas replete with holiday food, buffets, and hot chocolate.
Families that take pictures of themselves using these venues as backdrops in the first few days of the event will still have time to take the photos to nearby Stationery printers to have this year’s Holiday Cards made.
Moody Gardens 2019 Holiday Season will open November 16 and will run through January 12. Ice Land will open daily from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm, with the Festival of Lights beginning at 6:00 pm.
