Galveston’s Barefooter 5k Fun Run will combine with the 14th annual Yaga’s Chili Quest & Beer Fest toward the end of January.
Two types of registration for the 5k will be available. The 5k fun run only will be $40. This will include white T-Shirts featuring the event’s black and red Logo Design, participation medals, and beer at early packet pickup and post-race. The $50 option will add a Chili Cook Off Chili Tasting Cup.
Crazy costumes are strongly encouraged, and a trophy will go to the best outfit.
The morning will begin with packet pickup and registration at 8:00 am. Warm-up activities begin at 8:45 am and the Beerfooter 5k Fun Run will be at 9:00 am on Seawall Boulevard at Beerfooter Brewery, 2816 Avenue R 1/2. A post-run celebration will begin at 10:30 am.
Teams will be setting up for the Chili Cook-off at 6:00 am and will begin cooking at 8:00 am. Vendors will open at 10:00 am with a cornhole tournament beginning at 11:00 am. The public will begin sampling the chili, VIP beer tasting, and the Patron Jackpot Margarita contest will begin at noon. Live music will start at Saengerfest Park at 1:00 pm, exotic chili tasting begins at 2:00 pm, and the public chili samplings will end at 3:00 pm.
