A new tabletop gaming convention will take place in Galveston this February, bringing together game lovers for a weekend full of play.
The event, dubbed PeliCON, is hosted by Galveston Gaming Expo, a nonprofit which helps to promote board gaming, and will provide an open floor of tables and games to sample. Convention badge holders can enter raffles to win the board games they play, with new games under the Play-to-Win raffle including Dumb Ways to Die, Heroes of Might & Magic III: The Board Game, and Libertalia: Winds of Galecrest. There will be tables and tournaments dedicated to strategic board games from throughout the past few decades, from old favorites like Dominion and King of Tokyo to the latest releases.
Other PeliCON events will include seminars, role-playing games, and learn-to-play games. The event is hosted in the historic Galveston Island district, with the opportunity to play board games overlooking the beach a part of the convention’s marketing. Gaming events like this often use methods such as poster printing and outreach at local hobby stores to help attract local enthusiasts. The convention is designed to be family friendly and open to gamers everywhere on the spectrum from casual to competitive.
PeliCon will be held from February 7 to 9 at the Galveston Island Convention Center at the San Luis Resort.
