Annual Ironman event comes to Galveston

Galveston athletes are swimming, biking and running in order to get ready for the upcoming 2021 Memorial Hermann Ironman 70.3 Texas.

General registration for this grueling even is sold out but a waitlist still has available spots. Registrants will receive finisher medals and certificates, hats and tech shirts sporting this year’s graphic design, and sling Bags. Swag also includes timed race results, luggage tags, and awards in each age group.

There will be nutrition stations along the route, and food will be waiting after the race. Race finishers will receive free massages, and entrance to the Awards Banquet.

The swimming leg will be in the Offats Bayou, the biking will be on a flat out-and-back course along the Gulf Coast, and the run will be through Moody Gardens.

Two types of entries are available. One is the $600 Community fund and the other is a Team IMF Fundraising entry. The latter supports Ironman Foundation, which aids racing communities around globe.

Supporters are encouraged to attend. The VIP experience will include catered lunch and breakfast, race morning hospitality tent, premium viewing areas, onsite parking, and medal presentation to the sponsored athlete at the finish line.

It all takes place over the April 9 to 11 weekend, with the first day seeing athlete check-in and a virtual athlete briefing. On the Saturday, there will be a Mandatory Bike Check. The first leg of the actual race – the swim - will start at 6:45 am on the Sunday.
