Wings of Freedom offers family fun

Celebrating Independence Day with the TXU Wings of Freedom will make family fun available to residents of Friendswood and surrounding areas soon.

The event, to be held in Houston, consists of a 5K and a 10K and will be hosted by the Morning Bull’s George Lindsey. Proceeds from the run benefit Be an Angel. The event will conclude at the Karbach Brewery. The first 500 people to register will receive a complimentary Karbach pint glass.

Be An Angel’s mission is to help children suffering from profound deafness or several disabilities. The entity provides adaptive equipment and services. Sponsors for the run include TXU Energy, Karbach Brewing, Orangetheory Fitness, Frito Lay, Oak Farms Dairy and The Bull 100.3.

Organizers frequently order banner printing services from local Print shops for race events. Banners make excellent signage that provide information for the participants.

The 5K registration is $25 for untimed and $30 for timed. The 10K is $30 and Family Fun is $20 for adults and $15 for youth. All participants will receive a surprise gift from TXU Energy, and a choice of a shirt or dog bandanna.

Entertainment will be part of the fun along with live music, food and beer. Registration starts at 8:00 a.m. and the run begins at 9:00 a.m.
