Outdoor music comes to Friendswood

In Friendswood, warm weather brings music outdoors, with the city’s 2026 Concerts in the Park series.

Four performances will be coming to the Gazebo in Stevenson Park in June. The artists are Hamilton Loomis Remembers Prince, The Slags, ZZ Nation, and Doppelganger.

Hamilton Loomis is a native of Galveston who plays harmonica, guitar, piano, and drums, and he is a protégé of the legendary Bo Diddley. At his concerts, Loomis plays memorable Prince hits as well as his original music.

The Slags are a cover band based in Houston. Established in 2002, the band plays everything from current hits to classics, and tailors its setlist to the occasion and the audience.

ZZ Nation was created by lifelong fans of ZZ Top. The tribute band recreates the look, sound, and energy that made ZZ Top legendary by using fuzzy guitars and synchronized moves to make fans feel like they really watching the bearded blues-rock icons.

Finally, Doppelganger is a nine-piece band founded by Dave Vandiver in 1969 and comprises experienced musicians from throughout the country. The party band appeared at the inauguration of President George W. Bush.

Loomis appears June 5, The Slags on June 12, ZZ Nation on June 19, and Doppelganger on June 26. All concerts begin at 7:00 pm and admission is free. People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, snacks, dinner or other refreshments, and blankets. Event series like this benefit when organizers use poster printing to create advertising for them.
