Friendswood residents will have a chance to enjoy a special event and support a good cause at the same time.

The Space City Corvette Club is hosting the 22nd Annual Corvettes & Crawfish event, which will take place in Stevenson Park in Friendswood. As the name implies, the event features crawfish, classic Corvettes, and vendors, all gathering to support Texas EquuSeach. People can register now, but this year something new has been added: thanks to the sponsor of the event, donations made in cash will be match up to $10,000.

Texas EquuSearch is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to finding missing persons. Their rapid-response teams search in all kinds of terrain using certified K-9 units, ground searchers, helicopters, drones, and all-terrain vehicles. They are capable of responding 24 hours per day, and coordinate and support law enforcement agencies.

Volunteers pass background Checks and are trained in search methods and have ongoing opportunities for skill development as well as education. Coordinators understand that volunteers who bring equipment with them—whether that is a horse or a helicopter—understand how to use it. They have been involved in several high-profile searches.

The fun is scheduled for April 11, starting at 8.30 am. The park is at 1100 South Friendswood Drive. When organizers plan outdoor events like this, they might work with banner printing to create colorful Banners to announce the event, name the sponsor, and provide decoration.
