An upcoming event will use old-fashioned glamor to raise funds for a great cause.

The 2026 Friendswood Public Library Gala: Bet on the Library will recreate the type of glamorous event that might be found in Hollywood, or a European resort. The Friends of the Library are rolling out a metaphorical red carpet for attendees who are invited to consider themselves in the same category as intriguing secret agents or film stars. The dress code for the event is tuxedos and evening gowns, as would-be James Bonds or movie queens prepare to enjoy a formal evening.

The intended ambiance is Old Hollywood, featuring exciting entertainment, delicious food, casino games, and a generous raffle. The event promises to be dramatic, fun, and a chance for attendees to pretend they are at the equivalent of the Met Gala or a Hollywood premiere.

Since there are games of chance involved, the event is limited to those 21 years of age and over. All proceeds of the evening go to support the Gale High School scholarship program, and to buy a new marquee for the library. When they plan events like this, organizers can use poster printing to create advertising for them.

Anyone who wants to attend Bet on the Library should mark their calendar for September 26 and come to the library itself, located at 416 South Friendswood Drive at 7.00 pm. The admission is $125, which covers entry to the casino, raffle tickets, heavy appetizers, and drinks.
