Show brings food, fun, and cars to Friendswood

An upcoming event in Friendswood will allow people to show off their rides and enjoy good food at the same time.

The 13th Annual Good Grub & Gears Fall Open Car Show is slated to take place in Stevenson Park, which is located at 1000 Friendswood Drive. The day includes not only the car show, which is open to all models and makes of vehicles, but also features music, door prizes, food, and a 50/50 raffle, as well as having vendors on hand.

The cars will be judged in classes, and slingshots are welcome to take part. Slingshots, which are becoming increasingly popular, are three-wheeled cars, a sort of cross between an automobile and a motorcycle. The nickname comes from the wheel arrangement, which has two in front and one in back, resembling a slingshot.

The entry fee is $40 for those who pre-register but increases to $45 for those who register on the day of the event. Pre-registration ends on October 10, and day-of registration will be available from 8.30 am until 11.00 am. The first 100 participants to register will be eligible to receive a free T-shirt and a dash plaque.

The show is October 11, from 8.30 am until 3.00 pm. The show will be held rain or shine, and the public is welcome. When they plan outdoor events like this, organizers have the opportunity to create decorations using banner printing.
