A popular event is returning to Friendswood, and everyone is invited.
The Friendswood Rotary Club is the sponsor of the upcoming 2024 Rotary Regatta, which is being held for the seventh year. The event is for both kayaks and canoes, and is open to competitors of all skill levels.
There are two different race lengths available, but both cover the same course. There is a 3.5-mile course that begins at 1776 Memorial Park, and ends at Stevenson Park. The other option is a 12-mile course that also begins at 1776 Park, turns at a buoy at Countryside Park, and then goes back upstream to end at Stevenson Park. Organizers are adding an SUP class this year, and will have more details soon.
The day starts with on-site registration and check-in from 7.45 am until 8.40 am. Preparation and staging is at 8.40 am., and the race starts at 9.00 am. Festivities will begin at the finish line at Stevenson Park at 11.00 am, and will include music, beer, and lunch. Shuttle buses will run from 12.00 pm until 3.00 pm, and the event’s closing ceremonies are set for 2.00 pm.
The Regatta is scheduled for September 28, and will take place rain or shine. If cancellation is necessary, the entry fees will be considered as tax-deductible donations to the Rotary Club to support its programs. Organizers of community events like this will often use poster printing to create advertising for them.
