Party band coming to Friendswood

A popular band that plays music from all genres, and from the 1960s to the present day, will be appearing soon in Friendswood.

In 2009, after playing together for several years, Dennis Gittens and John Gilmore founded Modulation, which allowed them to expand their repertoire to include blues and jazz. Other friends joined the group, and they began appearing publicly.

When their trombonist left the outfit, the band realized there was not great demand for an instrumental group organized as they were, so they added a guitarist, then made a huge leap and added a vocalist/guitarist. With a singer on board, they expanded their repertoire from blues and jazz to include funk, classic rock, pop, and even some country.

The lineup changed over time, but the next big change was when Lyn Smith, wife of one of the founders, joined as a vocalist, giving the final polish to the group’s sound. They still rotate, usually depending on job demands, but are enjoying a “friend’s group” that became a party band.

Their playlist includes Pop/Oldies such as “I’m a Believer,” rock classics like “Satisfaction,” country like “Walkin’ after Midnight,” jazz such as “When the Saints Go Marching In,” and blues with “Ain’t No Sunshine When She’s Gone.” Flyers are a great way to advertise events like this, and organizers can use flyer printing to create them.

Modulation will appear on May 13 in the Stevenson Park Gazebo at 7.00 pm, as part of the ongoing Concert in the Park series.
