Magical fundraiser in Friendswood

An event in Friendswood will raise money for one of its key institutions.

Many people love libraries for the reason that they hold resources that allow people to explore other worlds, learn science, go on quests, battle dragons, have a tea party with talking cats, and learn about astronomy, all within the pages of the Books on the shelves.

The Friendswood Library, which describes itself not unreasonably as a “sanctuary of wisdom and wonder” is transforming itself into a version of the Kingdom of Camelot. It says the shelves might be the halls found in King Arthur’s castle, and the pages of the books resemble the whispered advice of Merlin the magician.

The Friends of the Library are transforming the premises into a suitable realm for an after-dark experience. A grand auction will allow people to bid on special items, live bards will be performing, and food that might be served at a royal banquet will be available for everyone to enjoy. People planning to come to the party are encouraged to wear their best costumes, or clothing that suggests the medieval/Arthurian theme.

The event, which is the library’s main fundraiser, is planned for March 8, and tickets are available now. The library is at 416 South Friendswood Drive, and the event is limited to those 21 years of age and older.
