The Annual Youth Fishing Derby will take place soon and is presented by the Friendswood Parks and Recreation. Participants are invited to bring their own fishing poles and supplies to enjoy a fun experience with friends and families. Fishing licenses are not required.
Around 600lb of catfish will be stocked for the event at the Centennial Park Pond. Awards will be presented for the largest fish caught, with categories for age levels including 12-16, 7-11, and 6 and younger. Other awards include smallest fish caught and the most fish caught in the day.
Banners are often used at outdoor competitions to highlight areas of interest. Banner printing creates signage to place above concessions, parking areas, competition spots, and other facilities. Local Print shops are available to handle projects involving banner creation.
Anyone interested in volunteering to assist with the derby can fill out a volunteer sign-up form. Upon completion the form can be sent to the Parks and Recreation Department.
The Friendswood Youth Fishing Derby will take place on May 1 at the Centennial Park from 8:30 to 11:00 am. No registration is necessary - residents and visitors are simply encouraged to head out for the morning and enjoy a family-friendly event. Masks and social distancing are recommended. More event details can be found on the Friendswood Parks and Recreation website or by calling the office.
