Pearland's Art & Kustom Kreations is hosting a summer day camp that aims to help kids from kindergarten to grade 8 embrace their artistic sides, and it is doing it with some high-tech help.
For four of its twelve weeks, the art camp will partner with the nearby SMART core labs to incorporate tactile media, storyboarding, and even robotics into their artwork. In a world increasingly driven by both technology and artistic tools like graphic design, these camps offer parents from Pearland, as well as surrounding areas like Houston or Friendswood, a chance to kill two birds with one stone and let their kids have some fun during those long summer weeks.
Each week of the camp features all-day instruction and a different theme, including such kid-friendly topics as ‘Dino-Mite Dinosaurs’ and ‘All About Cats & Dogs’. Attendees will get a chance to experiment with conventional art techniques like painting, drawing and construction. Those who sign up for one of the weeks in partnership with SMART will get a chance to either visit the lab or receive a hands-on robotics lesson. Parents whose children are particularly inspired might spend their weekend visiting art supply stores, Print shops, or even electronics depots.
Art & Kustom Kreations, celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, regularly holds adult-oriented events, as well as offering personal services for private groups such as business meetings. SMART is a STEAM-certified education program, whose five focuses are featured in the acronym for its name: science, math, art and animation, robotics, and technology.
