What's Happening in Friendswood, TX…

Friendswood is making it simple for residents to discard items they no longer need, and which might be difficult to dispose of, particularly if they are heavy or bulky.

The items that can be discarded are wood, tree limbs, plastic, old furniture, old appliances, grass clippings, and metal. Bricks or cement items will not be accepted, and neither will hazardous materials such as batteries, tires, or paint or any other household item that could be considered hazardous, such as cleaning materials.

Each vehicle can bring in 200 pounds of materials to be shredded as well. Shredding is limited to paper. Items that cannot be shredded are video tapes, newspapers, microfiche, hanging file folders, floppy disks, cardboard, and three-ring binders. No electronics of any kind will be accepted.

The Fall Haul is scheduled for November 9, from 8.00 am until 2.00 pm, at Centennial Park, which is located at 2200 South Friendswood Drive. Shredding will be available from 8.00 am until 12.00 pm, or until there is no more room in the truck. The Parks and Recreation Department is the organizing agency, and any questions should be directed to them.
