Friendswood residents make town sparkle

This April, Keep Friendswood Beautiful is asking residents to help clean up the town at their annual Spring Sparkle.

The event combines waste disposal services with wildlife aid to try to make the town beautiful inside and out.

The main draw of the event is its waste disposal. The Flyers advertise free shredding services, plant matter recycling, and old household item cleanup. Only 200lb of paper per person will be accepted for shredding, and there is a space limit on the truck. Once it is full, no more paper will be accepted. Cardboard, three ring binders, hanging folders, floppy disks, and microfiche will not be accepted for shredding.

Tree limbs and glass clippings will both be recycled at the event. Household items accepted include old furniture and appliances, and scrap wood and metal. Additionally, residents can donate items to a garage sale that will be held on site. Any items in good condition will be added to the sale, and all proceeds go to improving the city’s parks and facilities.

Keep Friendswood Beautiful is also looking for items that wildlife rehabbers can use in their efforts. Specifically, it is in search of aquariums, kennel carriers, clean rags, and shallow crock bowls.

Spring Sparkle will be held on Saturday, April 9 from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Centennial Park located at 2200 S. Friendswood Dr. Waste disposal and recycling is free for Friendswood residents. Anyone interested in more information can look to the flyers or visit the website.
