The city of Friendswood is looking to up the green factor in the community with its Tree Giveaway. The event is a local beautification initiative that is aiming to put more local fauna in the hands of city citizens.

The giveaway is only open to Friendswood residents, meaning hopeful tree receivers will need to bring either a driver’s license or a water bill to prove that they reside within the city limits. Also, only one tree is available per residence. The Flyers also mention that these are 15 gallon trees - a reference to the size of pot that the tree fills up. For this reason participants should plan on bringing a form of transportation capable of hauling the tree back home.

The trees available are chosen based on how suitable they are for the area, which counts out exotic, high water, and cold weather trees. More than 100 trees have been prepared for the event, will be given out on a first come, first served basis until supplies run out, with no more than one tree per family. No trees will be held and no delivery will be provided.

The Tree Giveaway will be held on January 21 starting at 8:00 am at Friendswood City Hall, located at 910 S. Friendswood Dr. All trees are free of charge to residents. Anyone looking for more info should contact the city directly or check the flyers.
