Friendswood gets fishy next month

An upcoming event in Friendswood is designed specifically to appeal to young anglers.

The Friendswood Parks and Recreation Department is offering the Fish Camp, which gives youngsters the chance to learn all about fishing. The camp is four days long, and attendees can register for a class on any one of those days.

In the class, youngsters will learn how to identify fish that can be found in the local area, assemble a fishing rod, tie knots, and use fishhooks safely. They will also be able to practice casting, and reeling in the line. Finally, they will go fishing.

Materials developed for the class and any equipment used will be available to students only. There will be no “extras” for accompanying parents, friends, siblings, or others not in the class. When organizers are developing materials for events like this, they can turn to brochure printing to create information-packed Booklets for students.

The Fish Camp will take place March 14, 15, 16, and 17 at Lake Friendswood Park on Davis Prairie Lane. The classes are from 9:00 am until 10:30 am, and are limited to 12 students who must be residents of Friendswood. It will be necessary for a parent or other legal guardian to be present during the entire class. The class material is identical on all four days, but participants can choose the best date for them.
