Friendswood gets cleaned up

Friendswood has scheduled an event that will allow residents to dispose of various items.

The Fall Haul will take place at Centennial Park on South Friendswood Drive, and is limited to Friendswood residents. They will be asked to provide identification proving their residency when they enter the park.

People who attend the event will be able to accomplish several things. If they have sensitive material they wish to shred, they will have that opportunity. A shredding truck will be available and accepting paper from 8.00am until 12.00pm, or until there is no more room. Shredding is limited to 200 pounds of paper per vehicle.

Organizers of the event are also accepting items for further disposal, including mattresses, old furniture, old appliances, grass clippings, unwanted plastic, metal, and wood, as well as tree limbs.

Keep Friendswood Beautiful is also organizing a garage sale, and will accept donations for that event. They are looking for household items, furniture, bicycles, and similar goods, but they ask that these things be in good condition. They will not accept clothing. Benefits will be used to beautify city parks and facilities.

Hazardous waste will not be accepted. Unacceptable items include oil, batteries, paint, tires, and other types of hazardous household waste.

The Fall Haul in Friendswood is scheduled for Saturday, November 11. Organizers of community events like this can use flyer printing to create handouts listing acceptable items.
