Friendswood fired up for haul in fall

Friendswood, Texas is looking to clean up the town with the Fall Haul City-Wide Cleanup and Garage Sale.

The ambitious event will feature item pickup, a garage sale, and even free shredding services, though paper items with metal (such as three-ring binders and Presentation Folders) are excluded.

The event is part of the Keep Friendswood Beautiful initiative, and is being sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Department, as well as many local businesses. The cleanup portion of the event is being sponsored by Progressive Waste Solutions, which will accept tree limbs, grass cuttings, broken down furniture and appliances, as well as scrap wood, metal, and plastic. Haulers are taking items large and small to encourage residents to clear out long neglected junk. Hazardous waste will not be accepted.

The garage sale is also accepting donations. Proceeds will go to benefit Keep Friendswood Beautiful, and organisers are looking for items like old furniture, bikes, toys, and household items to sell. The group is also asking for items that will benefit wildlife rehabilitation efforts in the Friendswood area. In particular, it needs aquariums, dog and cat carriers, clean rags, and shallow crock bowls.

The Fall Haul will take place on November 12 from 8:00 am until 2:00 pm at the Centennial Park located at 2200 S. Friendswood Dr. Anyone interested should check out the local Flyers or go to the website for more information.
