Friendswood celebrates the fourth

Residents in Friendswood and the surrounding regions are getting excited about the city's 122nd Annual Fourth of July Celebration. The all-day event features parades, rides, games, music, and more.

The theme of the festivities is ‘A Salute to America - Texan Style’, and this will be carried throughout the parade. The procession will run through downtown, ending at Whispering Pines. The top three entries in each category will receive a trophy.

After the parade finishes, the celebration will begin in earnest. The park has been filled with carnival style rides and games, including a chair swing, a train, a mechanical bull, and a rock wall. Visitors with a wristband can partake in all of these as many times as they would like. Vendors will also be set up at the festivities, selling food, custom Drinkware and T-Shirts, special merchandise, and crafts.

When evening comes, Bee Gee's Gold will take the stage to provide some live music. Guests will still be able to ride the rides and play games after the evening program begins. A large fireworks demonstration will cap off the evening.

The Fourth of July Celebration will be held on July 4 from 10:00 am to 9:45 pm at Stephenson Park, located at 1100 S. Friendswood Dr. Admission to the park is free, but wristbands for rides and games cost $15 in advance or $20 at the door. Anyone looking for more information should visit the website.
