A meeting of a long-standing organization dedicated to public speaking is coming up in Friendswood.

The Bay Area Toastmasters Club Meeting gives members the support they need to develop leadership and communication skills that will encourage personal growth and increase their self-confidence. The meeting is designed to be a positive learning experience for everyone, as public speaking is a skill that must be developed, and is also a great fear shared by many people.

Attendees at the upcoming meeting will enjoy breakfast and coffee, as well as the opportunity to network with owners of local businesses.

The Toastmasters’ local club is 17 years old and going strong, but it is part of a much larger organization. Toastmasters International was founded in 1924 and is a non-profit, educational, and international organization with clubs in 148 countries, and helps build confidence by teaching public speaking. The organization is a network of clubs that operates worldwide, and gives members the opportunity to prepare and give speeches, answer off-the-cuff questions, and receive and give feedback. Regular practice helps people become more at ease speaking in public.
