Annual Independence Day returns to Friendswood

The 120th annual 4th of July Celebration is taking place in Friendswood, presented by the Community Services/Parks and Recreation Department.

The theme of this year's event is ‘We the people’. The celebrations will kick off with the grand parade, which is set to feature over 100 participants.

The celebration is divided with daytime events and an evening program at two different locations. The daytime activities include 50 booths from both commercial and nonprofit organizations, amusement rides, and musical entertainment.

The evening program will have a concert by The Spazmatics, which will be followed by a fireworks display choreographed to music. There will also be amusement rides such as the chair swing, mechanical bull, and an inflatable obstacle course.

Vendor spaces are still available for those who are interested. Fees for residents of Friendswood are $80 for commercial or $50 for nonprofessional, and $105 or $60 for nonresidents.

Organizers of this annual Friendswood event may decide to invest in services such as banner printing to mark off specific areas, or recognize sponsors.

The daytime portion of the 4th of July Celebration will be held at Stevenson Park from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm, while the evening program will take place at Centennial Park beginning at 7:30 pm (fireworks will take place at approximately 9:20 pm). For more information, call 281-996-3220.
